The Lip Blush Experience

Every step of your lip blush journey is guided by my expertise and designed to simplify your routine.

  • Initial Session | $450 +tax
Required for all new clients, or if it’s been more than 48 months since your last session. During this appointment, I map, design, and customize your lip shade to enhance your natural beauty.

  • Perfecting Session | $150 +tax
Scheduled 6–12 weeks after your initial session. This appointment is pre-booked at your initial session to ensure your healing process is assessed and any adjustments are made for flawless results. Some clients with lip neutralization (correcting darker lip tones) may require additional touch ups, depending on natural tone and goals. If you need any additional touch-ups beyond this, they can be conveniently booked online.

  • Annual Refreshers | $300 +tax
Refreshers can be booked as early as 6 months after your last appointment. Unlike brows, lip blush refreshers are flexible — you can come in as often as you’d like to keep a bold, lipstick-like look, or simply to adjust tone, shape, or color. Most clients return within 1–2 years, once their pigment has softened by at least 50%.

✨ A 50% nonrefundable retainer is required to book all initial sessions and annual refreshers. Once your appointment request is submitted, an invoice will be sent from Olive & Ember to secure your booking.

Pre-Care: Setting Yourself Up for Success

Following these steps ensures the best healed results:

  • Eat at least 2 hours before your appointment and stay hydrated

  • Hydrate and exfoliate lips starting 1 week prior

  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before

  • Limit caffeine 24 hours before (no more than one cup on the day of your appointment)

  • Avoid exercise 24 hours before

  • No sun or tanning for 2 weeks prior

  • Avoid chemical peels, laser treatments, or microdermabrasion at least 4 weeks before

  • Lip filler must be done at least 3 weeks prior to lip blush

  • Do not arrive with sunburned or irritated lips

Cold Sores

If you or your partner have ever had a cold sore (even once), you must take an antiviral starting 7-days before your session and continue to 7-days after your session. Please contact your doctor for a prescription (such as Valtrex). If you cannot get a prescription, an over-the-counter option like L-lysine can be used, but prescription strength is most effective. Skipping this step may trigger an outbreak and impact your results.

Aftercare Basics

You’ll receive a full aftercare kit at your appointment. Everything you need will be provided, so you don’t have to worry about a thing.

Daily Routine for 5-Days:

  • Apply the provided ointment several times a day for the first 5 days

  • Use a straw for beverages while healing

  • Avoid spicy or salty foods, kissing, and makeup on the lips for 7 days

  • Do not pick at scabs or flakes

  • Avoid hot baths, saunas, swimming, or direct sun exposure during healing

Healing Expectations

  • Immediately after: Lips will appear darker and bolder than the final result

  • Days 4–10: Peeling and flaking are normal; color may look lighter or patchy

  • 4–6 weeks: True color emerges as lips fully heal

  • Perfecting session: This allows me to adjust and perfect your final color

What my clients have to say

I had the most amazing experience getting my lips blushed by Mariah! During the consult she listened to all of my input and was able to create the exact image I had pictured. She paid close attention to every detail. She is so talented and made me feel so comfortable through out the whole experience. I even ended up dozing off during the treatment because I was so relaxed! She provided detailed pre and post care instructions which was so helpful because I had never had a treatment like this done before. She also gave me a product kit to use while healing to ensure I was using correct products for post care. I was so well taken care of during the entire process and couldn’t be happier with the results.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does lip blush hurt?
Most clients are surprised at how comfortable the process is. The outline can feel a little stingy at first, but once numbing is applied, you’ll be comfortable for the rest of the appointment. The Cupid’s bow area does have the most nerves, so you may feel it a bit more there (similar to what clients with lip filler already know).

How do we choose the color?
Every lip blush session is fully customized. I base your pigment mix on your natural undertones, your goals, and your Fitzpatrick scale (skin tone depth). For mature skin, I lean toward warmer tones because they age more gracefully over time. I recommend bringing your favorite lipsticks or glosses with you so I have a baseline for the colors and tones you love.

What’s the healing process like?
Immediately after, your lips will look darker and bolder than the final result. Around days 4–10, peeling and flaking are completely normal — the color may look lighter or patchy during this stage.

Your lips will also feel dry for the first few weeks to a month. This is just part of the healing process as your skin exfoliates and settles back into its natural state. Once fully healed (around 4–6 weeks), that dryness goes away and your true color emerges.

What’s lip neutralization?

Lip neutralization is a specialized technique used to correct darker or cooler undertones in the lips before adding your target shade. It creates a balanced base so that the final healed color looks soft, even, and true to your goal.

Neutralization is often recommended for clients with higher levels of natural pigmentation in the lips. This can include people of Latin, Hispanic, South Asian, East Asian, Middle Eastern, and African descent. Every client is unique, and my approach is always tailored to your natural lip tone and your desired outcome.

Because neutralization works gradually, it may take more than one session to achieve the best results. My goal is always to enhance what you naturally have, while creating a smooth, even canvas for your customized color.

Can I still get lip filler?

Absolutely. Lip filler and lip blush are a perfect combination. Filler expands the lip tissue, which can sometimes make natural pigment appear softer or more muted. That’s why many clients with filler choose lip blush — to softly bring back the color and definition that’s been lost.

Filler gives you volume and fullness, while lip blush restores border definition, symmetry, and natural pigment. Together, they create lips that look plump, youthful, and beautifully balanced.

If you get filler (or botox), just make sure it’s done at least 3 weeks before your lip blush appointment so your lips have time to settle.

Can I still wear lipstick after lip blush?

Yes! Once your lips are fully healed, you can wear any lipstick or gloss you like on top of your lip blush. The benefit is that your lips already have a beautiful base color, so makeup goes on smoother, looks richer, and wears more evenly. Many clients find they don’t need lipstick every day, but it’s always an option for when you want to change up your look.
